Physician Update

Inside This Issue of UCSD Physican Update...
From UCSD's Dean of Clinical Affairs, Tom McAfee, M.D.

Tom McAfee, MDThis is an exciting time for UC San Diego's health system, and we are proud to share some of the latest news from our physician practice and the UC San Diego Medical Center.  You are vital contributors to advancing the health of our community, and as our partners in patient care, education and research we value your commitment to the future of medicine, as well as to the delivery of excellent care today.

UC San Diego Medical Group and Medical Center are focusing on improving and expanding key programs so we can be a better resource for you and for patients with highly specialized health care needs.  We are improving our facilities and our services, so we can provide you and your patients with a positive experience when you interact with our physicians and staff.  For example, we are getting ready to cut the ribbon on our expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and we are remodeling our Post Anesthesia Care Unit and inpatient imaging services at UC San Diego Medical Center, Hillcrest.   And, we recently broke ground on the new Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center at UC San Diego Medical Center, La Jolla, which will add 20 cardiology exam and treatment rooms, four operating rooms and 28 intensive care beds to our La Jolla hospital.
