Services include intensive, intermediate and continuing care for pre-term, term and post-term neonates and infants with medical or surgical problems in their first month; a forty-bed capacity Infant Special Care Center (ISCC); extensive ground and air transport capabilities; apnea evaluation and treatment program; and neonatal neurologic evaluation and neurodevelopmental follow-up program.
Community physicians are welcome to admit and care for infants, or may refer infants.
Research and therapy programs include cranial imaging using ultrasound and Doppler techniques, EEG monitoring, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, evaluation of breathing disorders, the use of non-invasive ventilation techniques and neonatal surfactant replacement. Neuro-developmental follow-up provides case management coordinated with San Diego County Department of Education.
