UCSD's Shared Governance |

Shared governance (SG) is a model of shared decision-making that gives staff nurses’ autonomy over their practice. In ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® facilities across the country, staff nurses have indicated participation in shared governance as the most important aspect of their work.
Nursing shared governance is not only a necessary part of attaining ANCC Magnet Recognition® but it also provides a valuable tool for retaining nurses. As structures and processes differ in every organization, it's important to apply the principles of shared governance to meet the unique needs of our facility.
We kicked off our Shared Governance committees on January 29, 2007 and the Logo we adopted was designed by a graduate student we were mentoring. Each Council welcomes the participation of any nurse!
