Nursing at Shiley Eye Center

We are a referral center for complex ophthalmologic procedures from all over the country. They include state-of-the-art glaucoma surgery with the ability of using Trabectome technology and eye muscle surgery on children and adults. We also do surgery for retinal detachments and diabetic retinopathy and retinoblastomas. Patients with thyroid disease can see a muscle surgeon, an ocular plastic surgeon and a neuro ophthalmologist in one appointment, and have all their problems addressed. Treatment may include, orbital depression, muscle and lid surgery. We are one of the few centers that offer this combined approach. We also do the routine cataracts, corneal transplants and ocular plastics. We have three ORs and a small cohesive group of RNs and technicians who work hard and still have fun.  Learn more about the UCSD Shiley Eye Center.

Ideal candidates will have a valid CA RN license with BCLS certification and at least two years experience. Ophthalmic experience desired. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are essential. We perform 3,000 cases annually.
